SALIMATU DUMBUYA

From an early age, Salma found herself intrigued and fascinated by fitness. Her early exposure consisted of watching and replaying workout videos by Susan Somers, Jane Fonda, and Gilad.

While her interest continued to peak, Salma was scouted by her school’s football coach to start weight training and lifting. This early training really helped her hone in on the appreciation of proper form, something she continuously stresses the importance of in her training. Though while proper form is key, Salima implements another influence to her training she incorporated early on: the importance of physical fitness balanced with mental fitness.

Salima furthered her professional career in IT, and after a year, found herself in Chicago working in corporate America. Although having a busy schedule, she continued to train and focus on nutrition, which caught the attention of her coworkers. Throughout the day, she began helping where she could with advice and tips in her coworkers' own personal fitness. With this, Salma was at a crossroads career wise, and realizing her love for assisting others in nutrition and fitness, decided to take her career in a new path: personal training.

She knows that the one-on-one relationship in training a client cannot be duplicated. As a trainer, she can physically take her clients to place that no one else can take them. From working in Corporate America to the shift in becoming a trainer, Salma is able to tie her corporate experience with those in the corporate lifestyle; helping them see the fruits of their labor in measurable results.

She loves introducing people to their inner athlete and their strong selves. “Seeing my clients realize that they are stronger than they thought they were is why I love being a trainer. When that realization clicks with them, that they can become mentally and physically stronger, is when i can introduce them to their greater version of themselves; my favorite part.”
